Rafiq Azad (born 1943 as Rafikul Islam) is a prominent poet of Bengali literature〔http://www.voanews.com/bangla/archive/2008-07/2008-07-01-voa5.cfm?moddate=2008-07-01〕 and is the author of 25 collections of poetry including his Collected Poems.〔Bangladesher Kabita: Antarango Abolokon, Khondakar Ashraf Hossain, Bangla Academy, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He previously worked as the director of the Upajati Shangishkriti Kandra, Netrakona in the 1990s and taught at the Jahangir Nagar University, Dhaka, as a visiting professor.
